Know the signs.
Knowing what is normal for you can help you notice a change.
A new lump
A new lump or thickening in the breast or underarm.
Changes in shape or skin
A change in breast size or shape, or skin changes such as dimpling, redness or puckering.
Unusual nipple changes
A new change in nipple appearance or unusual nipple discharge, including blood.
Some people have no symptoms. These signs do not automatically mean cancer. A healthcare professional should evaluate a new or concerning change, even if it does not hurt.
